In conversation with Geoffrey Colman (Head of Acting at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), acclaimed choreographer Jasmin Vardimon and Libby Worth, Senior Lecturer in Theatre Practice at The Royal Holloway University of London, discuss the work with author and subject. Together they share their insights into the pair’s collaboration and the complex writing process they undertook to bring the book to fruition. They also discuss Vardimon’s vibrant, evolving choreographic practice from the seeds of an idea through to the completion of a work. What emerges is a lively and multi-layered reflection on the devising and training processes of a choreographer in the midst of her practice.

A leading force in British dance theatre for nearly twenty years, Jasmin Vardimon has built a reputation for challenging, exciting and visually stunning dance. Formed in 1997, Jasmin Vardimon Company enjoys critical acclaim and sell-out performances all over the world.

Libby Worth is a movement practitioner and scholar with research interests in dance theatre, site specific performance and performer training.

In addition to his work at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Geoffrey Colman has worked alongside Vardimon as acting coach on her works Justitia, Park and Pinocchio.

This new book provides an excellent addition to the educational resources available from the company suitable for students, teachers and practitioners.

83% of all JV2 graduates currently employed in the sector!

Developing, encouraging and cultivating young talent is a key feature of JV2, the Professional Development Diploma training programme established by Jasmin Vardimon Educational Company in 2012. With its core focus to develop versatile and multidisciplinary performers, students on the programme work collectively as a company training alongside Jasmin Vardimon Company and its professional repertoire and creative methodology. The programme culminates annually in a national tour which features work by young choreographers and or associates of the company, as well as offers Creative Internships for young lighting design technicians and costumes designers to add production values to the touring work.

Over the last four years, 51 students, hand picked personally by Jasmin Vardimon, have successfully completed the programme and we are proud to report that 83% of them are currently employed in the sector. With 44% as professional performers, 25% as education facilitators, and 14% as choreographers, JV2 is indeed proving a successful pathway to employment.
