Free digital streaming of Park coming soon!

‘Bristling with tension, raw excitement and audacious moves’ The Stage.

Catch our free digital screening of Jasmin’s critically acclaimed production ‘Park’ from Friday 11th Sept at 10am – Saturday 12th Sept at 10pm on our Vimeo channel.

Park is an urban oasis, a place of refuge from ordinary life where eight characters play, fight, fall in love and learn to survive. In this playground of relationships, young lovers wrestle in a historic fountain, a graffiti artist sprays his story, a busker finds his only appreciative audience in a bag lady and a flag-waving bully rants worn out political beliefs. Their stories intertwine creating a modern day fairytale that is alternately sharp, funny and cruel.

Reworked in 2014 with new 3D imaging and multi-talented cast, Park presents a breathtaking collision of highly acute physical theatre, text, athletic dance and funky music, delivering fresh statements about our time.

Park is one of Jasmin’s most popular productions, particularly with school and college students studying her work. We are pleased to offer this screening at the beginning of the new academic year to help support teachers and students in their dance studies. Further free education resources, links and background to Jasmin’s work can be found here: Education Resources

BodyMap Digital Premiere

Exciting news! The digital premiere of our short film ‘Body Map’ takes place on Marquee TV’s Summer Shorts season from today.

In a time when the experience of separation and detachment has such a profound effect and a touch has become a dangerous gesture, we are longing for simple human connections. Our film explores themes of community and connecting together through movement.

Special Streaming of Pinocchio this Easter weekend

Dance fans are in for a special treat this Easter weekend as we will release a special digital streaming of our popular and critically acclaimed production of Pinocchio on Vimeo from Good Friday (10th April) at 7 pm BST through to Easter Monday (13th April) at 7 pm BST. Viewers will be invited to make a ‘Pay As You Feel’ donation to support the company’s work in these unprecedented times. Donations can be made here.

Having previously toured throughout the world, this family-friendly adaption of the classic tale is based on the original book by Carlo Collodi and performed by Vardimon’s multi-talented dancers. Pinocchio brings to life the famous marionette as he embarks on a fantastic journey to become a human boy.

Showcasing Vardimon’s uniquely theatrical choreographic and directorial style, Pinocchio combines physical theatre, quirky characterisation, innovative technologies, text and dance to examine the idea of what it means to be human.

New Free Online Classes & Special Screenings to Energise & Inspire

As we find ourselves self-isolated at home and facing the challenges of staying healthy, keeping fit and connecting with one another, we are delighted to offer our Pop Up Space classes for FREE online for one month via Zoom. We invite the wider community to join us from their own home to keep moving.

Following the success of our Pop Up Space classes at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford, we are pleased to offer a superb programme of classes accessible for all, launching on Friday 27th March. Classes are free for a month and are suitable for all ages and abilities – from young children to the over 50’s.

Professionally trained dancers will guide participants through a series of fun and inspirational sessions live-streamed through the Zoom online platform. A fundraising campaign has also been set up by the charitable arm of the company to support our current digital activities and the freelance artists working with us in these challenging times.

“In these difficult times, I feel we have to do everything we can to help our communities. I hope our offer will benefit dance students, professional dancers and other individuals and families who are at home and looking for ways to keep active and stay healthy.” Jasmin Vardimon

We will be also hosting free digital screenings of our most popular productions. The first screening will take place on Sunday 29th March at 7 pm GMT. We have had a fantastic response so far, with fans busy voting for their favourite production on social media. The winning production will be available to all for 24 hours via our company Vimeo page.

We also recognise that this is a particularly tricky time for educators and the demand for targeted online activity is at an all-time high. This week we have proactively reached out to teachers and students studying Jasmin’s work at GCSE and A-Level, to provide new resources to help motivate and enliven their home-learning. Online videos of full company productions will be made available exclusively for teachers and their groups of students, which for a limited time can be followed by a special 30-minute session of Q&A with Jasmin or a company dancer. In a time of huge disruption to student’s learning, the team is committed to providing much-needed support with these additional free video resources and exclusive access, through which students can learn more about Jasmin’s creative process.

We will be announcing further developments in our expanding digital portfolio as we develop our online audiences and continue to affirm the positive impact that dance and creativity have in supporting the community.

Latest Update on Coronavirus

Wednesday 18 March 2020

Due to the increasing spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), Jasmin Vardimon Company remains operational but with staff working from home. Please continue to contact us via info@what2make.com for company information or eduadmin@what2make.com for education enquiries.

However, with the closure of theatres and, above all to protect the wellbeing and safety of our dancers, students, staff and audiences, our JV2 UK tour and Pinocchio performances at Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Philharmonic Cultural & Arts Foundation have been cancelled. If you have tickets for these performances please wait to be contacted by the venue directly and bear in mind that due to a large volume of enquiries, it may take a little time to respond to everyone. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty. We hope to return with Pinocchio in July to Beijing’s National Centre of Performing Arts and other venues in East Asia. Please continue to check our website and social channels for more information.

To ensure the well-being of our staff and members of the public, it is with regret that we also announce the closure of our Pop Up Space at the McArthurGlen Ashford Designer Outlet with immediate effect. We fully intend to return to the Pop Up Space with an exciting new programme of classes as soon as it is safe to do so. We will post further updates as soon as we have further information. In the meantime, please keep safe and well.

JV2 2020 now on sale

We are delighted to announce that JV2 2020 is now on sale. JV2 2020 premieres works by Mafalda Deville (ex-company dancer) and Anthony Matsena (Sadler’s Wells Young Associate) along with an inspiring new piece by multi-award-winning Jasmin Vardimon. Vardimon’s new work Dark Moon has been created especially for this year’s JV2 from favourite moments of her company’s repertoire, transforming sections from Park, Medusa, 7734 and Freedom into a breathtaking new experience. This vibrant dance ensemble, hand-picked by Jasmin Vardimon following an international audition process, celebrates the culmination of their training with three captivating, powerful and resonant works.

Now in its 8th year, the established JV2 Professional Development Diploma was created with the mission to encourage, cultivate and nurture young talent. The programme offers students a unique opportunity to train as versatile and multi-disciplinary performers, under the guidance of one of the world’s leading female choreographers.

I’m very proud to present these 16 powerful female dancers, who demonstrate their talent throughout this mixed bill. Nurturing young talent is at the core of JV2, and this year we are pleased to support international choreographers and upcoming costume and lighting designers to collaborate on these exciting new creations.” Jasmin Vardimon
