JV2 2018

This year’s electrifying triple bill celebrated the intrinsically fresh approach of two emerging choreographers, in collaboration with the vast experience of the multi award winning choreographer Jasmin Vardimon.

An ensemble of fifteen international bright new talents, showcased works created by Yunkyung Song and Andre Rebelo. The triple bill culminated in a performance of Jasmin Vardimon’s (in between), originally created for the National Youth Dance Company and premiered at Sadler’s Wells in 2013. (in between) was revived in 2018, incorporating the exceptional talent of JV2. Andre Rebelo’s Blazing Dust is a powerful gift to humanity from the skies, meant for guidance and protection, is quickly ruined by the manifestation of greed. The grass might seem greener on the other side but remember, never bite the hand that feeds you!

Yunkyung Song’s You are You was inspired by Jeremiah (17:8) They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green, it has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. In order to achieve your own dreams, you have to face the challenges that life gives you. If you have strong inner strength like the roots of a tree you can stand with your own feet on the ground and enjoy being who you are.
