Workshops can be based purely on physical skills and repertoire or can also include explorations of socially relevant issues that dominate Jasmin Vardimon’s work.
Participants have the opportunity to experience Vardimon’s methodology first hand by working directly with Jasmin Vardimon Company members.
Workshops
We offer workshops and residencies all year round, both to accompany the Company’s touring schedule and also as a popular stand alone education programme.
Repertoire Workshops consist of a contemporary technique class, repertoire and a creative session exploring Vardimon’s unique approach to creating work. Workshops are offered at all levels of ability from beginners to advanced levels and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of a particular group. Recommended for age 9+. The workshops are popular with Key Stages 3, 4 and above.
Choreographic Workshops focus on developing improvisation skills, contact work and creating original movement material from a given stimulus. These workshops are popular with dance students from BTEC and A-Level programmes up to post-graduate and professional dancers, but can also be adapted to suit other groups. In longer projects there is time for participants’ own ideas to be developed throughout the creative process, and can culminate in a sharing of work at the end of the project.
The Company also offers workshops in the use of video technology with dance.

Extended Residencies and Longer Projects
The Company works with venues and National Dance Agencies to offer everything from on-going weekly introductions to Contemporary Dance sessions right up to dancers’ continuing professional development. The programme offers longer educational residency projects with organisations such as Sadler’s Wells, The Place, and several overseas venues.
Collaborations with Higher Education Institutions
The Company also works with several higher educational establishments, developing on-going dance and physical theatre training. The Company is currently collaborating with the Royal Holloway University of London, leading on The Post Graduate Certificate in Physical Theatre. We also offer an apprentice position through the Postgraduate Diploma In Contemporary Dance Apprentice Scheme at The Place. The University of Wolverhampton offer ‘The Jasmin Vardimon Prize for Excellence in Physical Theatre’, which has been donated by the Jasmin Vardimon Company, and reflects Jasmin Vardimon’s ‘Visiting Professorship of Performance’ status at the University.
Jasmin Vardimon Professional Development Certificate
The JVC Professional Development Certificate offers participants a unique opportunity to train as versatile and multi-disciplinary performers, touring nationally alongside Jasmin Vardimon Company. Throughout the course students will learn the technical foundations of dance theatre and the specific approach developed by Jasmin Vardimon. Alongside dance techniques, students will explore theatrical skills, voice coaching, body conditioning, analytical and educational techniques.
It is hoped that from this course performers will be selected to enter the main Jasmin Vardimon Company, go forward to lead educational work under the Jasmin Vardimon Company umbrella or continue as successful performers in their chosen path.
