The Jasmin Vardimon Company’s Professional Development Certificate provides participants with a unique opportunity to train as versatile and multi-disciplinary performers, touring nationally alongside Jasmin Vardimon Company.
Working in the exclusive Jasmin Vardimon Production Space students will benefit from ample opportunities to further develop as performers alongside JVC. With its direct relationship to one of the foremost creative minds in the UK, the course offers students access to the processes of Jasmin Vardimon, taught by Jasmin and senior company members.
Throughout the 25-week course students will learn the technical foundations of dance theatre, and the specific approach developed by Jasmin Vardimon. Alongside dance techniques, students will explore theatrical skills, voice coaching, body conditioning and pilates, analytical and educational techniques. The course will provide experience in various performance disciplines to include movement, voice, drama, music and visual arts.
The JVC Certificate is designed for a small group of students, allowing one on one interaction with Jasmin Vardimon and company members. The course is an ideal opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge of Vardimon's methodology and apply it to their own creative exploration. Working side by side with the professional touring company in repertoire rehearsals, students will gain an insight to the working environment of a touring company, embarking on a short tour of small-scale venues towards the end of the second semester.
Jasmin Vardimon and senior company members will create works on the students to be performed on a national tour. Participants will also gain experience in and learn how to educate through Jasmin Vardimon Company methods, building confidence as dance educators of future generations.
The training the course provides is designed for performers who wish to develop as versatile and multi-disciplinary artists. Students will gain invaluable experience working with one of the most inspiring and stimulating choreographers of the 21st Century.
It is hoped that from this course, performers will be selected to enter the Jasmin Vardimon Company, go forward to lead educational work under the Jasmin Vardimon Company umbrella or continue as successful performers in their chosen path.
Course Overview
The Jasmin Vardimon Company’s Professional Development Certificate is a highly practical course for those who are hoping to pursue a career as a professional performer. The aim of the course is to develop students into versatile performers who have excellent ability in multi-disciplinary performance styles.
The year-long course will cover various subjects that form part of the wider genre of performance art, such as voice coaching, various theatrical skills and lectures on visual art. We hope our students will relate to the wider world of art and performance and will be well informed whilst training with Jasmin Vardimon Company.
Each day will consist of a technique or pilates class, followed by exploration of the specific module. Students will be given the opportunity to explore their own creative ideas as well as studying JVC repertoire.
Students will be assessed and reviewed throughout the course and given feedback from Jasmin and senior company members at regular intervals.
Where
The JVC course will be based in Ashford, Kent at the new Jasmin Vardimon Production Space. Only 38 minutes from Central London, and under 2 hours from Paris on the Eurostar, close to the vibrant town of Canterbury and surrounded by peaceful countryside, the students are in a perfect location to further their creative and professional development.
When
The JVC Certificate course is 25 weeks of intensive training over the period of a year, including a two-week national tour towards the end of the program. The course runs October – May.

Students must be able to commit to all weeks of the course.
Requirements
Applicants must be over 18 years of age by 1st October 2012. There is no upper age limit for the course. The course is suitable for school leavers, Post Graduate students and experienced performers looking to continue their professional development. Applicants must be eligible to study in the UK. Applicants must be able to commit to all weeks of the course as stated above in order to complete the Certificate.
Fees
The cost of the Professional Development Certificate course is £4000.
This includes 25 weeks intensive training, touring expenses, one ticket to the premiere of Jasmin Vardimon Company's new production to be premiered at South Hill Park and subsidised use of Leisure facilities at the Stour Centre. Fees can be paid in two installments at the beginning of October and the beginning of January. Details of accommodation and a digs list will be made available to those who are successful in securing a place on the course.
Application Process
The audition for JVC’s Professional Development Certificate 2012 intake will be held on 10th March 2012 at The Jasmin Vardimon Company Production Space, Stour Centre, Tannery Lane, Ashford, TN23 1PL. This is an OPEN audition. Please arrive at 09.00 to register. Applicants are asked to bring a hard copy of their current C.V. Kneepads and comfortable shoes to dance in are recommended.
